What Is Greywater?

Greywater is household wastewater that excludes sewage (blackwater). It comes from showers, baths, basins, and washing machines.
Although less contaminated than blackwater, greywater still contains soaps, detergents, skin cells, lint, dirt, and microbes.

Effective treatment of greywater is crucial to make it safe for reuse.
Our Greywater Systems use advanced processes to remove detergent residues, organic matter, and particulates — ensuring the recycled water meets strict safety and quality standards.

Why Choose a Greywater System?

A Greywater System helps reduce dependence on rainfall and eases pressure on Australia’s water resources. By recycling greywater, homeowners can reuse water more efficiently and support a sustainable future.

At Garden Master, we design and install advanced greywater treatment systems tailored to your needs. Each system is built to deliver long-lasting performance, low maintenance, and environmentally friendly water reuse.

OUR SYSTEMS

Garden Master Greywater Recycling System

Greywater Systems
ultraGTS Greywater Membrane Bio-Reactor (MBR)
The Greywater Membrane Bio-Reactor (MBR) system combines biological treatment, membrane filtration, and UV disinfection to purify greywater for safe reuse.
  1. Biological Treatment:
Microorganisms break down organic matter and remove contaminants, improving the water’s quality.
  2. Membrane Filtration:
Advanced ultrafiltration or microfiltration membranes separate bacteria and fine particles from the water. Only clean water molecules pass through the filter, ensuring purity.
  3. UV Disinfection:
Ultraviolet (UV) light eliminates any remaining bacteria, viruses, and parasites without chemicals, providing an extra layer of protection.
By combining these stages, the Greywater MBR System produces clean, high-quality recycled water suitable for irrigation, toilet flushing, and landscape maintenance. Read more about our ultraGTS Greywater Membrane Bio-Reactor (MBR) below, and make sure to check out our Alaskan project!

Greywater Membrane Bio-Reactor (MBR) System

The Greywater Membrane Bio-Reactor (MBR) System combines biological treatment, membrane filtration, and ultraviolet (UV) disinfection to purify greywater for safe household reuse. This advanced technology ensures superior water quality while supporting sustainable water management.

Biological Treatment

In the first stage, microorganisms naturally break down organic matter and remove contaminants from the greywater. This biological process significantly reduces pollutant levels, improving the water’s clarity and overall quality.

Membrane Filtration

After biological treatment, the water passes through advanced membrane filters, such as ultrafiltration or microfiltration membranes. These filters remove suspended solids, bacteria, and fine particles. Only clean water molecules pass through the tiny membrane pores, ensuring an exceptional level of purification.

Ultraviolet (UV) Disinfection

In the final stage, the purified water undergoes UV disinfection. The ultraviolet light exposes the water to a wavelength that eliminates any remaining bacteria, viruses, or parasites. This chemical-free process provides an additional layer of safety, making the treated water suitable for reuse.

Sustainable Water Reuse

By combining biological treatment, membrane filtration, and UV disinfection, the Greywater MBR System produces clean, high-quality recycled water. It’s ideal for irrigation, toilet flushing, garden watering, and landscape maintenance, helping homeowners save water and reduce environmental impact.

How Is The Greywater Treated For Re-use?

Our ultraGTS Greywater System is a state-of-the-art Membrane Bio-Reactor that employs the latest membrane technology and UV disinfection.

  1. Greywater enters through an in-ground collection sump.

  2. It is automatically dosed into the system for biological and membrane treatment.

  3. The treated water is disinfected using UV light.

  4. The clean, recycled water is stored in a reuse tank, ready for use.

The ultraGTS is compact, efficient, and ideal for domestic and commercial applications. It holds a WaterMark licence (previously a Plumbing Safety licence) and is listed by NSW Health, ensuring compliance with Australian standards.

Closed-Loop Greywater Recycling System Installation

The ultraGTS Greywater System Shipped To Alaska!

A lack of access to fresh water had spurred the Alaskan government into looking at ways to install closed-loop water recycling systems in homes so water from showers, washing machines and other uses can be cleaned and used over and over again.

Benefits of Using Greywater

With proper treatment, greywater can be reused for many non-drinking purposes, including:

  • Laundry water supply

  • Toilet flushing

  • Lawn and garden watering

  • Car washing

  • Irrigation of food and non-food plants (greywater contains nutrients like phosphorus and nitrogen, which help plants grow)

By reusing greywater, you can save money, conserve water, and support a more sustainable lifestyle.
